  1. Percy Herbert, 2nd Baron Powis (1598 – 19 January 1667), known as Sir Percy Herbert, Bt, between 1622 and 1655, was an English writer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1621 to 1622 and later inherited a peerage.

  2. He was rewarded in 1698 by the titles Duke of Powis and Marquess of Montgomery, but these titles in the Jacobite Peerage (though used) were not recognised in England. The title of Baron Powis was created in the Peerage of England in 1629 for William Herbert.

    Le 19 novembre 1622, il épouse Elizabeth Craven (baptisée en 1600, déc. 1662), première fille survivante de sir William Craven (vers 1545-1618), qui la convertit au catholicisme. Leur fils unique, William Herbert (1er marquis de Powis) devient le 1er comte de Powis et ensuite le 1ermarquis de Powis.

In 1639 he was collector in Montgomeryshire of contributions by Romanists towards the war against the Scots, and was for the king in the Civil War.
