When I am trainspotting i carry a notebook for quick scribbles but I mainly use a trainspotting app on my phone (that also has a record function for transcribing later if i'm trying to get a lot at once). The app i use is handy as it can handle multiple data sets at once and if i only get 1 carriage number of a set i will mark the set as seen.
23 de nov. de 2022 · Look for a good used Panasonic GX-8. Expect to pay about £350-£400 for the body. The kit lenses (the one that was bundled with the camera) are mostly ok and usually very cheap. They also make a budget 45-200mm zoom that you can pickup for about £150.

North West (South) - Acton Bridge or Peak Forest (Can be hit & miss, not recommended to just turn up blind) Midlands - Stafford but lots of other places that are also busy; Nuneaton, Rugby, Water Orton, Tamworth.

6 de abr. de 2017 · Any of the intermediate stations between Reading and Didcot are good too. You'll see all the usual GWML stuff (43s, 180s, 165s and 166s) plus Cross Country 220s and 221s (they are going fast though so can be tricky to get the numbers). Plenty of freight if you go at the right times, mostly 66s but occasional 59s and 60s.
30 de out. de 2018 · Since 1974 I have only had trouble a few times. Once being told that trainspotting is not allowed at Kings Cross - we ignored the staff member and the promised police never arrived. Been asked to book in at Euston once. Repeatedly thrown off Tamworth in the 1970s - I was young enough to not argue but would sneak straight back on again.
22 de abr. de 2017 · Lancashire. Newport is a decent place for 66's 70's class 143/150/158/170/175. HST's you also get the odd class 60 tug and Colas 47/56 on the rare occasion Cardiff is the best for 142's and 143's and 150's and I prefer to call it an healthy obsession as I like pacers myself Bristol Temple Meads is the place for 150's 153's 158's and HST'S more ...
