The Birds of Prey is a superhero team featured in several American comic book series, miniseries, and special editions published by DC Comics since 1996. The book's premise originated as a partnership between Black Canary and Barbara Gordon, who had adopted the codename Oracle at the time, but has expanded to include additional superheroines.

The Birds of Prey is a primarily all-female team of crimefighters operating in Gotham City. Their core lineup includes Batgirl, Black Canary and Huntress.
Origin
While the incident that brought together the original Birds of Prey is unclear, it is known that there have been several iterations of the team over the years.
New 52
A more recent version of the Birds of Prey were brought together when Amanda Waller manipulated Black Canary (Dinah Drake-Lance) and Starling (both of whom had been members of Team 7) into cooperating on a string of covert missions. Both heroines then began to investigate a series of break-ins at research facilities, whilst adding Poison Ivy, Batgirl, and Katana to their lineup in the process. The crimes were traced to a villain known as Choke, who had a scheme of turning people into living bombs using nanotechnology.
