It starts out with his wild “playboy” youth in Assisi and shows his dramatic change when he goes off to war and is captured and spends a year on the verge of death, suffering from Malaria in a miserable prison. When he emerges, he is not the same Francis. He wanders into an old, broken down chapel and is called by God to rebuild God’s church.
