Richard Grey was the younger son of Sir John Grey of Groby and Elizabeth Woodville. Richard was a 3-year-old child when his father was killed fighting for the House of Lancaster at the Second Battle of St Albans on 17 February 1461.

Throughout his extensive work on television, Pickens is best known to audiences as Dr. Richard Webber, on the medical drama Grey's Anatomy (2005). It is also the same role in which he would reprise on the spin-off series Private Practice (2007) two years later.

Elizabeth Woodville then married Edward IV, son of Richard Plantagenet (Richard of York) and Cecily Neville. He was born on 28 Apr 1442. He died on 09 Apr 1483. They married about 1464.
