The Sección Femenina, or Women’s Section, was created covertly in 1934 to concentrate women’s membership to the Falange Española (Spanish Phalanx). Led by Pilar Primo de Rivera, the sister of the Falange’s founder, in 1937 it became the only women’s branch of the regime until its break-up in 1977.
