James Oliver Cromwell (born January 27, 1940) is an American actor and activist. Known for his extensive work as a character actor , he has received a Primetime Emmy Award as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Babe (1995).

She is the only daughter of the Cromwell clan and grew up with her other siblings in San Pedro, California. Likewise, her two brothers, Colin Cromwell and John Cromwell arrived in 1982 and 1980, respectively.
In November 1976, James Cromwell married Anne Ulvestad. The couple had 3 children: their daughter, Kate (born in 1978), and their sons, John (born in 1980) and Colin (born in 1982). They divorced in 1986.
