Sherwood dated his Vampire Academy and Shadowhunters co-star Sarah Hyland from 2015 to 2017. Since 2021 Sherwood has been dating actress Decker Sadowski. Sherwood has sectoral heterochromia; one of his eyes is blue while the other is half blue-half brown.
