L'Umbria è stata segnata dalle alluvioni, in particolare dal Tevere, che nel 1950 straripò ben 37 volte. Negli ultimi anni, però, oltre al Tevere si sono fatti sentire anche il Nestore, che con la piena del 12 novembre 2012 ha toccato la portata straordinaria di 1 002 metri cubi d'acqua al secondo, nonché il Paglia, che nella stessa occasione ha toccato i 1 100 metri cubi d'acqua al secondo.

The Umbri were an Italic people of ancient Italy. A region called Umbria still exists and is now occupied by Italian speakers. It is somewhat smaller than the ancient Umbria. Most ancient Umbrian cities were settled in the 9th-4th centuries BC on easily defensible hilltops.
