Biography. Thomas Somerset 1st Viscount Somerset, of Cashell, co. Tipperary was born in 1579, the third son of Edward Somerset K.G. “4th Earl of Worcester” and his wife Elizabeth Hastings (Somerset).

Thomas Somerset, 1st Viscount Somerset was born after 1578. He was the son of Edward Somerset, 4th Earl of Worcester and Lady Elizabeth Hastings. 1 He married Hon. Helen Barry, daughter of David Barry, 5th Viscount Barry and Ellen Roche, in 1631. 2 He died in 1650, without surviving issue. 2

Viscount Somerset, of Cashell in the County of Tipperary, was a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1626 for Sir Thomas Somerset, the second son of Edward Somerset, 4th Earl of Worcester, and the brother of Henry Somerset, 1st Marquess of Worcester.
