The Piano Lesson is a 1995 American drama television film directed by Lloyd Richards and written by August Wilson, based on his 1987 play of the same name. The film stars Charles S. Dutton and Alfre Woodard, and relies on most of its cast from the original Broadway production.

5 de fev. de 1995 · 1930's Pittsburgh, a brother comes home to claim "my half of the piano", a family heirloom; but his sister is not wanting to part with it. This is a glimpse of the conditions for African-Americans as well as some of the attitudes and influences on their lives.
A black family has been suffering from poverty for some time and to make things better, the family's son comes up with the idea to sell the piano. His sister strongly disagrees and it becomes clear that the piano is of enormous importance to the family.
