The soundtrack for the movie, which included Disco Inferno, was the industry’s biggest selling album to date and won the Trammps a Grammy Award in 1979. Through all the touring, hits and madness, Stan Wade held down the bass end on vocals, while also adding falsetto harmonies when needed.
With a number of line-up changes by the early 1970s, the band membership included gospel-influenced lead singer Jimmy Ellis, drummer and singer (bass voice) Earl Young, with brothers Stanley and Harold 'Doc' Wade.

The group remained a unit until 1980 at which time they disbanded and embarked on solo careers. In the new millennium the Trammps continue to tour, at times in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America. Today's line-up features: Jimmy Ellis, Harold Doc Wade, Stanley Wade and Dave Dixon.
