Scott M. Stringer (born April 29, 1960) is an American politician who served as the 44th New York City Comptroller. A Democrat, Stringer also previously served as a New York State Assemblyman, and as the 26th borough president of Manhattan.

Scott Stringer is a lifelong New Yorker who has served New York City as Comptroller, Manhattan Borough President, and Assembly Member. As Comptroller, Stringer exposed waste and mismanagement, and oversaw the City’s $240 billion pension funds as it grew to record levels.
As comptroller, Stringer, a 61-year-old Manhattan resident, led New York City’s pension funds to divest from the fossil fuel industry and the private prison industry. His 27-point proposal to fight the housing crisis and end homelessness is a centerpiece of his campaign.
