Royal Air Force Benson or RAF Benson ( IATA: BEX, ICAO: EGUB) is a Royal Air Force (RAF) station located at Benson, near Wallingford, in South Oxfordshire, England. It is a front-line station and home to the RAF's fleet of Westland Puma HC2 support helicopters, used primarily for the transportation of troops & equipment.
The Station. RAF Benson in South Oxfordshire is a support helicopter main operating base working within the Joint Helicopter Command. RAF Benson is home to two front-line Puma HC2 helicopter squadrons and one Operational Conversion Unit, flying a mix of Puma HC2 and Chinook HC4 helicopters.
Construction of RAF Benson finished in 1939. Its establishment on land previously farmed, meant the destruction of the 18th-century Lamb pub, which once stood on the outskirts of the village, near the present Crash Gate No 6. On 1st April 1939, 103 Squadron arrived from Abingdon followed by 150 Squadron from Boscombe Down the following day.

History of RAF Benson Post–War / World War Two RAF Benson goes back to 1937 when building work began with the erection of four 'C' type aircraft hangers, workshops and domestic accommodation. The new airfield was ready to accept its first aircraft when two squadrons of Fairey Battle Bombers moved in on 3rd April 1939. No. 150 Squadron
RAF Benson is situated in Oxfordshire. At the poitbreakof war it was used for training purposes, but later it became home to the Spitfires and Mosquitos of the Photo Reconnaissance Unit. Today RAF Benson is still in use as a front line support helicopter base in Joint Helicopter Command.
