Matthew J. Fader (born July 23, 1973) is an American lawyer serving as the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Maryland since 2022. He previously served as the chief judge of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals from 2018 to 2022.
He was succeeded by Matthew J. Fader. Getty is a former Republican state senator and delegate representing Maryland's 5th district. In February 2015, then-Senator Getty was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to his cabinet, as legislative and policy director during his second term as senator.
As Maryland's highest court, the Supreme Court of Maryland reviews cases of both major and minor importance. Throughout the year, the Supreme Court of Maryland holds hearings on the adoption or amendment of rules of practice and procedure.
