Sir James Boleyn (died 1561) was a courtier in the reign of Henry VIII of England and chancellor of the household of his niece, Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII. He was thus the grand-uncle of Elizabeth I. James was the son of Sir William Boleyn and his wife, Margaret Butler.
The Boleyn family was a prominent English family in the gentry and aristocracy. They reached the peak of their influence during the Tudor period, when Anne Boleyn became the second wife and queen consort of Henry VIII, their daughter being the future Elizabeth I. [1]

Biography. James Boleyn was born about 1480, the 2nd son of Sir William Boleyn of Blickling, Norfolk, and Margaret, the 2nd daughter of Thomas Butler, 7th Earl of Ormond [1] . James was a beneficiary of the will of his father, Sir William Boleyn, the will made on 08 Oct 1505 and proved on 27 Nov 1505 [2].
