He was replaced by Jack Ryland shortly thereafter, and the band then became an eight-piece with the inclusion of former Blues Image member Skip Konte as a second keyboardist in late 1973. In late 1974, Allsup and Sneed left to form a new band, SS Fools, with Schermie and Bobby Kimball (later of Toto ).

Jack Ryland (July 22, 1935–January 5, 2007) was an actor who played three different characters in Law & Order, all of them judges. He is also known for his roles on A Woman Named Jackie, Shortcut to Happiness, Police Woman, and Sin Magazine.
