Biograph--whose fortunes diminished after Griffith's departure--reissued Judith of Bethulia in 1917 in an expanded version titled Her Condoned Sin, using outtakes that Griffith had wisely jettisoned back in 1914.
Two reels of outtakes and extra intertitles were added by Biograph and the film was rereleased in the USA as Her Condoned Sin in 1917. References to this film being rereleased in 1919 as The Unpardonable Sin are erroneous.
Judith, a beautiful and beloved widow, prays for guidance and has a vision that she must offer herself as a sacrifice to Holofernes in order to save Bethulia. She goes to the Assyrian camp dressed in her finest clothes and jewels and completely captivates Holofernes, who surrounds her in luxury.

The story is set in Bible times and depicts the attempted capture by the Assyrians of the walled city of Bethulia, but before the inhabitants starve to death in their beleaguered city, Judith is inspired with a plan to rescue her people.

A widow named Judith (Blanche Sweet), has a plan to stop the war of the city when her people suffer starvation, and are ready to surrender. The widow disguises herself as a harem-girl, and goes to the enemy where she beguiles a general of King Nebuchadnezzar, whose army is destroying the city.
