  3. The beginnings of the Faculty of Asian and African Studies ("Vostochny" Faculty), Saint-Petersburg State University, can be traced back to March 1818 when Persian and Arabic started to be taught in the city.

  5. 4 de abr. de 2023 · The Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum has featured an open dialogue titled "The Knowledge of Oriental Studies in the Realia of Modern Russia: Forms and Perspectives". It was the first event organised by researchers of St Petersburg University as part of the forum.

  6. An international academic conference dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Southeast Asian studies at the Faculty of Asian and African Studies has been held at St Petersburg University. The unique online forum brought together about 50 experts in Southeast Asian studies.

  7. At present, the FAAS is one of the world’s major centres for the study and teaching of languages, cultures, international relations, economics, religions and history of the Asian and African Countries. 170 highly qualified specialists including 1 academician, 33 professors and 56 associate professors are on the teaching staff of the Faculty.
