Erich Pommer (20 July 1889 – 8 May 1966) was a German-born film producer and executive. Pommer was perhaps the most powerful person in the German and European film industries in the 1920s and early 1930s.
Erich Pommer war ein deutscher Filmproduzent, der zeitweise zu den mächtigsten Figuren der deutschen Filmindustrie zählte. Als Produzent von Filmen wie Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, Der letzte Mann, Metropolis und Der blaue Engel schrieb er Filmgeschichte.
Erich Pommer produced it in the Babelsberg Studio for Universum Film A.G. (UFA). Metropolis is regarded as a pioneering science-fiction film, being among the first feature-length ones of that genre. Filming took place over 17 months in 1925–26 at a cost of more than five million Reichsmarks, or the equivalent of about €21 million.

On July 20, 1889, Erich Pommer was born at Altpetristrasse 496, Hildesheim, Germany. As a boy going to school in Göttingen, he neglected some classes in preference to reading stories and books by famous writers of all ages, in English and French as well as German.
