Dawlish (pronounced /ˈdɔːlɪʃ/) is a town on the south coast of Devon, South West England. It is 12 miles from the County town of Exeter. The town has a population of around 13,000 people. During the eighteenth century, it grew from a small fishing port to become a well-known seaside resort .

It is situated on the English Channel, just north-northeast ot Teignmouth. Dawlish became fashionable in the 19th century and is featured in the novels of Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.

Dawlish has increased in population to around 13,000. There are many more houses in Dawlish but in many ways not a lot has changed – but perhaps that is why we like it. Big industry has passed us by and the change in shopping has altered the look of some of our streets, but for nearly a hundred years tourism is our biggest business.
