City-As-School ( CAS) is a public high school located at 16 Clarkson Street between Hudson Street and Seventh Avenue South in the West Village of Manhattan, New York City which was established in 1972. It is one of the oldest alternative public high schools in the United States.

Just like any high school, City-As offers a range of classes across traditional academic subject areas. Students take math courses like such as algebra or pre-calculus, English classes such as Shakespeare or the modern novel, and history classes such as global affairs or American politics and electives such as knitting or digital photography.
City-As-School is an experiential learning school that is part of the Consortium for Performance-Based Assessment. We believe that young people learn best through meaningful hands-on learning experiences that culminate in final projects in real world settings.
