Bernard Lafayette (or LaFayette), Jr. (born July 29, 1940) is an American civil rights activist and organizer, who was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement.
Bernard Lafayette was a key figure in the civil rights movement, participating in the Nashville sit-ins, the Freedom Rides, and the Poor People's Campaign. He was a close associate of Martin Luther King and became the program director of SCLC in 1967.
