Ayamonte (Spanish pronunciation: [aʝaˈmonte]; Portuguese: Aiamonte) is a town and municipality of Spain belonging to the province of Huelva, Andalusia. It is located near the border with Portugal on the mouth of the Guadiana River. According to the 2015 census, the city had a population of 20,357 inhabitants.
Ayamonte es una ciudad y un municipio español ubicado en la provincia de Huelva, Andalucía, situado junto a la desembocadura del río Guadiana, en la frontera con Portugal.
Ayamonte ist eine spanische Stadt in der Provinz Huelva in der Autonomen Region Andalusien. Am 1. Januar 2022 lebten dort 21.725 Einwohner. Das Stadtgebiet hat eine Fläche von 142 km² und eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 153 Ew./km². Der Ort liegt an der Mündung des Guadiana -Flusses in den Atlantischen Ozean und damit an der Grenze zu Portugal.
Destinations. Max 33ºC / Min 19ºC. Located on the banks of the Guadiana river, bordering on Portugal, Ayamonte was always a quiet fishing town that stretches its white houses down to the port. The Greek called it Anapotaman ("over the river"), which evolved into the town's present name.
