MIL-STD-1553 is a military standard published by the United States Department of Defense that defines the mechanical, electrical, and functional characteristics of a serial data bus.
Command Word . A Command Word format uses the first 5 bits for the address of the Remote Terminal (0 to 31). The sixth bit is 0 for Receive and 1 for Transmit. The next 5 bits indicate the subaddress/mode code bits. If this field is a 00000B or 11111B, the command is a Mode Code Command.
