She is the daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leila, the granddaughter of King Henry and the goddaughter/adoptive daughter of Maleficent.
Maleficent arrives uninvited and places a curse on Aurora: before the sun sets on Aurora's sixteenth birthday, Aurora will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep.
