The University of North Carolina Press (or UNC Press), founded in 1922, is a university press associated with the University of North Carolina. It was the first university press founded in the Southern United States. [1]
Founded in 1922, the Press is the creation of that same distinguished group of educators and civic leaders who were instrumental in transforming the University of North Carolina from a struggling college with a few associated professional schools into a major university.
UNC Press is the first university press in the South and one of the oldest in the nation. It publishes books and journals for students, scholars, and general readers on various topics, especially the history and culture of the South.
