The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) is a German federal government agency and research institute responsible for disease control and prevention. It is located in Berlin and Wernigerode. As an upper federal agency, it is subordinate to the Federal Ministry of Health.

29 de abr. de 2024 · RKI conducts surveillance, control and prevention of diseases, as well as biomedical research, especially on infectious diseases. It also monitors health situation in Germany and advises health policy and the expert public.
In 1885 Koch was appointed Professor of Hygiene in the University of Berlin and Director of the newly established Institute of Hygiene in the University there. In 1890 he was appointed Surgeon General (Generalarzt) Class I and Freeman of the City of Berlin.
