Alan Sydney Patrick Rickman, (21 February 1946 – 14 January 2016) was a British actor who voiced The Caterpillar in Tim Burton's 2010 film, Alice in Wonderland, and its sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016).

That same year he provided the voice of Absolem the Caterpillar in Tim Burton's film Alice in Wonderland (2010). Rickman again appeared as Severus Snape in the final instalment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).
