Mancini's earliest recordings in the 1950s and early 1960s were of the jazz idiom; with the success of Peter Gunn, Mr. Lucky, and Breakfast at Tiffany's, Mancini shifted to recording primarily his own music in record albums and film soundtracks.
Henry Mancini. American composer, conductor and arranger, born April 16, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio and died June 14, 1994 in Los Angeles, California. He co-wrote many of his songs with Johnny Mercer. Winner of 20 Grammy Awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously in 1995.
Jack Arnold (director of 'Creature from the Black Lagoon', 'The Incredible Shrinking Man', and 'It Came from Outer Space') produced the show and directed fifteen of the thirty-four episodes. Henry Mancini's smooth theme music for the show reached Number 21 in the US singles charts.
