Nicholas of Lorraine, son of Duke Antoine, was created Duke of Mercœur and a peer of France in 1569. His son Philippe Emmanuel left a daughter, who married the duc de Vendôme in 1609. [1]
Born in Nomeny in the Duchy of Bar, Louise was the third daughter and youngest child born to Nicholas of Lorraine, Duke of Mercœur, and his first wife, Countess Margaret of Egmont (1517–1554). She was the only surviving child of her parents; her older siblings, two sisters and one brother, died in infancy.

Nicolau de Lorena, Duque de Mercoeur (em francês: Nicolas de Lorraine, duc de Mercœur; Bar-le-Duc, 1524 – Nomeny, 23 de janeiro de 1577), era um príncipe da Casa de Lorena, filho de António, Duque da Lorena, e de Renata de Bourbon.
Biografía. Él estaba destinado originalmente para la carrera eclesiástica, llegando a ser obispo de Metz en 1543 y de Verdún en 1544. En junio de 1545, se convirtió en "tutor y administrador" de su sobrino, Carlos III de Lorena, en conjunto con su cuñada, Cristina de Dinamarca.
