  2. Our History. Founded: March 6, 1871. The County name of 'Lac qui Parle' is French for "Lake which Speaks" or "Talking Lake". In 1862 the Minnesota legislature authorized creation of a county to be called Lac qui Parle on an area north of the Minnesota River.

  3. Our mission is to represent visually and chronologically the priceless heritage of Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, which includes Lac qui Parle State Park, and the towns of Bellingham, Boyd, Dawson, Louisburg, Madison, Marietta and Nassau.

  4. The Lac qui Parle County version of the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Celebration (2008) was held at the Park with numerous historic displays, exhibits and tours given of the area. The Park also began to host a very popular Halloween Haunted Hay Ride.
