Dorothy Norman (née Stecker; 28 March 1905 – 12 April 1997) was an American photographer, writer, editor, arts patron and advocate for social change.

As a writer, activist, and photographer, Dorothy Norman championed liberal causes and artistic expression. In 1927, Norman met the pioneering American photographer Alfred Stieglitz at his New York gallery.
BIOGRAPHY. 1905-1997. Dorothy Norman interacted with artists and engaged in the arts on many levels. She wrote a New York Times column and edited and wrote several books, was mentored by Alfred Stieglitz (who became her lover) and maintained a well-respected artists’ salon.

She learned from and portrayed Alfred Stieglitz, her mentor and friend, and donated a large collection of his and her photographs to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
