Jacob Ziv (em hebraico: יעקב זיו, também Yaakov Ziv; Tiberíades, 27 de novembro de 1931 – 25 de março de 2023) foi um engenheiro eletricista israelense. Em parceria com Abraham Lempel desenvolveu os algoritmos LZ77 e LZ78, e que sobre suas bases Terry Welch publicou depois o algoritmo LZW.
Jacob Ziv (Hebrew: יעקב זיו; 27 November 1931 – 25 March 2023) was an Israeli electrical engineer and information theorist who developed the LZ family of lossless data compression algorithms alongside Abraham Lempel.

The IEEE Life Fellow was awarded the 2021 IEEE Medal of Honor “for fundamental contributions to information theory and data compression technology, and for distinguished research leadership.”
Dr. Ziv joined the Technion in 1970 and was Herman Gross Professor of Electrical Engineering. He was Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering from 1974 to 1976, and Vice President for Academic Affairs from 1978 to 1982.
