Dr Aylward leads WHO's work on universal health coverage, health systems, immunization and reproductive, maternal and child health. He has 30 years of experience with WHO and served as the Special Representative to the UN Emergency Ebola Response.

Dr Aylward has been leading WHO’s Transformation Agenda and the Organization’s work on the multi-agency Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) Hub.
