George Edward Pelham Box FRS [1] (18 October 1919 – 28 March 2013) was a British statistician, who worked in the areas of quality control, time-series analysis, design of experiments, and Bayesian inference. Born in Kent, England, George Edward Pelham Box was a renowned statistician and quality control theorist. Box served in the engineering corps of the British Army during the Second World War. Having previously studied chemistry, he was assigned to a chemical warfare defense unit.
