Son of Guglielmo I, Duke of Mantua and Eleonora of Austria; married Eleonora de' Medici. Father of Francesco IV, Ferdinando I, Guglielmo Dominico, Margerita Gonzaga (who married Henri II, Duke of Lorraine (q.v.)), Vincenzo II, and Eleonora Gonzaga (who married Emperor Ferdinand II (q.v.)).
