  3. Arundel, Philip Howard, 13th earl of (1557–95). Philip Howard's father was the 4th duke of Norfolk, executed in 1572: his mother, daughter of Henry, earl of Arundel, died soon after his birth. The dukedom was under attainder from 1572 but in 1580 Howard succeeded his grandfather as earl of Arundel.
