Since 2008 it has been a label of the Jive Label Group and RCA/Jive Label Group under Sony Music Entertainment. In September 2011, it was announced by Sony that Jive, Arista, J and LaFace were absorbed by RCA Records, bringing all of its artists to the RCA family.
RCA/JIVE Label Group was a short-lived label group operating under that name from approximately August 2008 until June 2011. The group was originally formed as BMG Label Group in September 2007 under Sony BMG Music Entertainment. The group basically consisted of BMG's portion of the Sony BMG merger.

As a result of Sony's buyout, Jive (along with its BMG sisters RCA and Arista) became a wholly owned unit of a refreshed Sony Music Entertainment. Starting in 2008 Jive was all capital (e.g. JIVE Records), this change started when BMG Label Group was renamed RCA/JIVE Label Group. 2010s: Dormancy
In mid-2011, Sony announced that they were again restructuring RCA/JIVE Label Group. The JIVE side split, and LA Reid was hired to head Epic Records, which was restructured to focus on urban music. JIVE Records was moved under RCA Music Group, minus those artists who were moved to Epic.
