John Tsang is a former senior civil servant and government official who was the longest-serving Financial Secretary of Hong Kong SAR from 2007 to 2017. He also ran for the 2017 Chief Executive election, but lost to Carrie Lam.

He is currently Professor of Immunobiology and Biomedical Engineering at Yale University, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator and the Yale lead of CZ Biohub New York, and the Founding Director of the Yale Center for Systems and Engineering Immunology (CSEI).
John Tsang is a chief of the Multiscale Systems Biology Section at NIAID and a co-director of the NIH Center for Human Immunology. He studies the immune system using systems biology approaches, single-cell analysis, and human cohorts, and leads a project on immune response to COVID-19.
