  1. George O'Brien Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont FRS (18 December 1751 – 11 November 1837) of Petworth House in Sussex and Orchard Wyndham in Somerset, was a British peer, a major landowner and a great art collector. He was interested in the latest scientific advances.

  4. On his death the titles passed to his nephew, the fourth Earl. When he died in 1845 the barony of Cockermouth and earldom of Egremont became extinct. The large Wyndham estates, including Petworth House in Sussex had already passed to Colonel George Wyndham. He was the natural son and adopted heir of the third Earl.
