Sir Walter Raleigh (Hayes Barton, [1] Devonshire, 1552 ou 1554 – Londres, 29 de outubro de 1618) foi um explorador, corsário, espião, escritor e poeta britânico. Entre 1584 e 1585 fundou, na ilha de Roanoke, o primeiro núcleo de colonização inglesa na América do Norte.
