Nicholas Bacon (1510-1579) was a lawyer, politician and Protestant leader in Elizabethan England. He was the father of the philosopher Francis Bacon and the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal for most of Elizabeth's reign.
Sir Nicholas Bacon (born 1510, Drinkstone, Suffolk, Eng.—died Feb. 20, 1579, London) was a high official in the government of Queen Elizabeth I and father of the renowned philosopher Francis Bacon. Admitted to the bar in 1533, Bacon was made attorney of the court of wards and liveries in 1546.

SIR NICHOLAS BACON, (1509-1579), Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, was the second son of Robert Bacon of Drinkstone, Suffolk, and was born at Chislehurst.
His status was definitely fixed (in the case of lord keeper Sir Nicholas Bacon) by the Lord Keeper Act 1562 (5 Eliz 1 c. 18), [3] which declared him entitled to like place, pre-eminence, jurisdiction, execution of laws, and all other customs, commodities, and advantages as the Lord Chancellor.
