Zakes Makgona Mokae (5 August 1934 – 11 September 2009) was a South African-American actor of theatre and film.
Zakes Mokae was a South African actor who starred in theater, film and TV. He collaborated with Athol Fugard and won a Tony for "Master Harold...and the Boys". He died in 2009 in Las Vegas.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on August 5, 1934, actor Zakes Mokae was initially a jazz saxophonist. Moving to England in 1961, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and became one of the most distinguished thespians in South Africa for over two decades.
