Joe Spinell (born Joseph Spagnuolo; October 28, 1936 – January 13, 1989) was an American character actor who appeared in films in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as various stage productions on and off Broadway.
Joe Spinell (1936-1989) was a tough guy actor who played villains in movies like The Godfather, Rocky, and Maniac. He also wrote and produced Maniac and its sequel, and died under mysterious circumstances at age 52.

Joe Spinell was an American actor who worked in several movies and Broadway plays. He attained fame as a character actor. Due to his heavyset body, Spinell was mostly cast as an underworld thug, or as a cynical police officer.
