Quatermass II is a British science fiction serial, originally broadcast by BBC Television in the autumn of 1955. It is the second in the Quatermass series by writer Nigel Kneale, and the oldest of those serials to survive in its entirety in the BBC archives.

Professor Quatermass is trying to perfect a dangerously unstable nuclear-powered rocket engine. After a disastrous test firing in Australia, his soon-to-be son-in-law, Captain John Dillon, draws the Professor's attention to a strange hollow meteorite which interrupted an Army Training exercise.
A sequel that improves on the original, Quatermass 2 follows the scientist's investigation of a mysterious pod-like object that falls from the sky and a sinister government project. The film features a breathless pace, brutal violence, and paranoia about authority, but the monsters are disappointing.
