Founded in Switzerland in 1903, during an upheaval of anti-clericalism in France, as a boarding school for the scions of the French elite, Villa St Jean International School [2] evolved over the decades into an international school educating students from around the world.
For the 1962-1963 school term, Villa St. Jean - Collège Français Internationale became Villa St Jean International School - an international school educating students from around the world in an American College Preparatory curriculum for boys in the Junior and Senior High School.

Hence, Villa's enrollment in its last year was 55 students with 12 full-time staff members. The St. Louis Province, which included VSJ, decided to close a school. Those who made the decision to close VSJ apparently were not in love with VSJ as were some of us were. The decision to close the Villa was made in December 1969.
