Alphonso Martin (born 20 March 1956) is a British musician best known as a percussionist and vocalist for the reggae group Steel Pulse. He joined Steel Pulse in 1976 as a friend of David Hinds.
It was the first recording since the defection of Alphonso Martin, leaving the trio of Hinds, Nisbett and Selwyn. While they still faced criticism at the hands of British reggae fans, in the United States their reputation was growing, becoming the first ever reggae band to appear on the Tonight television show.

8 de mar. de 2019 · “We didn’t fit in at the time,” says founding member, Mykaell Riley, who, along with lead vocalist David Hinds, guitarists Selwyn Brown and Basil Gabbidon, bassist, Ronnie McQueen, drummer Steve Nisbett, and percussionist Alphonso Martin, made up the group.
