With her husband, Prince Edmond de Polignac, she wanted to create a place for artistic development. Their musical evenings were held more regularly with time and were inspired by the ones of Winnaretta’s old friend, Marguerite Baugnies, who had married sculptor René de Saint-Marceaux in 1892.
For while Winnaretta provided support to her husband as a loving, devoted spouse and as the muse and promoter of his music, Edmond, by enabling her to become the Princesse de Polignac, allowed his wife to realize “the life and the work to which she aspired,” as she had said to the Comtesse Greffulhe.
