Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan (c. 1655 – 21 August 1693) was an Irish soldier and Jacobite. Killed at Landen in 1693 while serving in the French army , he is now best remembered as an Irish patriot and military hero.
Patrick Sarsfield was a Jacobite soldier who played a leading role in the Irish Roman Catholic resistance (1689–91) to England’s King William III. Sarsfield remains a favourite hero of the Irish national tradition.

Patrick Sarsfield (d. 1693) was a soldier and leader of the Jacobite army in Ireland during the Williamite war. He is famous for his attack on the siege train at Ballyneety and his role in the treaty of Limerick, but his reputation is also controversial.
12 de fev. de 2023 · Researchers believe they have located the burial ground of Sarsfield, the Earl of Lucan, who led the defense of Limerick in 1690 and died in 1693. They plan to excavate the site and repatriate his remains to Ireland.
